ABOUT MARK J. SWARTZ

Criminal Defence Lawyer


Mark grew up in Burnaby BC, where he completed his undergraduate studies in Criminology at Simon Fraser University. He then attended the University of Leicester in England where he obtained his law degree (LL.B.), graduating with Honours.

 

While articling with Michael Tammen Q.C. and Brian Coleman Q.C., Mark worked on several notable cases, including: R. v. B.S. et al., a case involving the possession of multiple firearms; R. v. J.W., a first degree murder charge; "Mr. Big," an undercover sting; and R.. v. C.H. et al., also known as "the Surrey Six."

 

Since his call to the bar in 2012, Mark established his own practice, assisting individuals throughout the Lower Mainland. He has been successful at litigating a wide-range of significant trials, defending clients charged with a wide array of charges including aggravated assault, sexual assault, robbery, firearms, drug trafficking, as well as many less serious offences. He has also co-counseled on several murder trials.
